ASRI review

Areas of Strategic Research Investment are subject to review.

Beginning in 2006, ASRI reviews will be undertaken annually, with a major review of each ASRI conducted in the year prior to the conclusion of the initial funding period.

2006

The first review of ASRIs (covering 10 ASRIs) took place in June 2006.

2007

All 17 ASRI will be reviewed in 2007.

Initial funding for the following ASRI concludes at the end of 2007 or mid-2008:

  • Aboriginal Health
  • Eye and Vision
  • Cultural Heritage and Exchange
  • Neuroscience
  • Social Monitoring
  • Clinical Change
  • Nanostructures
  • Bioknowledge
  • Cancer Control
  • Medical Devices and Technologies.

For all of these ASRIs, the outcome of the 2007 review will inform a decision on further funding beyond 2007.

Review Panel

Membership of the 2007 ASRI Review Panel is:

  • Professor Jim Piper, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Macquarie University (Panel Chair)
  • Professor Janet Greeley, Pro Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Arts, Education and Social Sciences at James Cook University
  • Ms Amanda Heyworth, Chief Executive Officer, Playford Capital.

The Panel will convene at Flinders from Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 September, and will interview all 17 ASRIs, the Executive Deans and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).
