Funding Strategies for Medtech/Biotech Companies - BioSA Conference Centre, 40-46 West Thebarton Road, Thebarton SA 5031

When you are in a capital-intensive business like biotechnology or medical devices, sometimes it's easy to fall into the trap of taking money from anyone who offers it. But, as much as growing a business is about having the money to execute it, so is attracting the right type of investor to support the strategic direction and plans of the business.

Understanding the different channels for raising capital and how different investor groups will respond to different fundraising structures will help companies to identify what type of capital it needs and where to get it from.

Guest Speaker, Belle Jing is a senior associate for the Corporate/M&A Group at commercial law firm, Addisons, and is experienced with fundraisings in both the private and public capital markets. Belle regularly advises biotechnology and medical devices companies on how to structure their businesses to best attract incoming investors and commercialisation partners.

10 Working Day Application Review Deadline

The Research Services Office deals with a high volume of grant applications on a year round basis. In order to ensure adequate time for applications to be compliance reviewed prior to submission a 10 working day deadline in advance of external funder lodgement date is in place for grant applications to be received in the RSO for review. (Please note that longer internal deadlines apply for applications to ARC and NHMRC). A full complete draft of your application should be submitted for review. While the RSO will always endeavour to review all applications received prior to submission to funding bodies, applications received later than the 10 working day deadline will not be guaranteed a compliance review prior to submission.
