Vice-Chancellor's Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

*** This scheme is now closed.

As at 2 May the Vice-Chancellor has advised that the 2013 VC postdoc fellowship round has been put on hold. This is due to the recently announced, anticipated and significant federal government cuts to higher education funding which will directly impact Flinders University income. We will advise when a firm decision has been made.

The Flinders University Vice Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Scheme is an initiative to build the University’s research and to support outstanding early career researchers seeking to commence an academic/research career.

The Scheme provides appointments of 3 years full-time research, but 4-year appointments will be considered for highly ranked candidates who participate in a teaching component.

Up to 4 Research Fellowships will be supported in 2012 under this Scheme at Academic Levels A and/or B. A start-up grant, to be negotiated, may be provided to successful applicants. This will be a highly competitive scheme and applicants are expected to have a strong track record relative to opportunity.

The scheme focuses on outstanding early career researchers who would normally be within 5 working years since completing their Doctoral qualification.

Applications will be assessed on the quality of the proposed research project and it’s fit with the host unit, track record (relative to opportunity) of the applicant and the research environment in the host unit (Research Institute, Research Centre, School or research group).

It is expected that Fellowships will be aligned with the University’s areas of identified research strength.

  • Up to 4 Research Fellowships available
  • Appointments of 3 years full-time research, with possibility for 4 year appointments with a teaching component
  • Salary (Level A/B): $61 504 to $93 638 pa (full-time)
  • Plus 17% employer superannuation
  • Applications close: 11 am, Monday, 25 June 2012.
