Welcome to the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences
The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences is at the forefront of teaching, research, scholarship, professional activity and community engagement in the social sciences. We are distinguished by excellence and innovation in our education and training of professionals and researchers, and we seek to address the real challenges of our communities, be they social, economic, political, health-related or environmental in nature.
The Faculty comprises four schools and two research centres. We have a large number of specialist research facilities and laboratories including the Sleep Clinic and the Early Intervention Research Program (EIRP) for autism and related disorders. We have research interests that span the social sciences including environmental economics; eyewitness memory; body image and food cravings; gender, emotions and the body; ageing; and international relations.
The Faculty has a range of innovative internships and work-integrated learning programs designed to provide students with practical skills and experiences. These include the Washington Internship Program, the Parliamentary and Public Sector Internship, the Social Work Field Education Program and Psychology Practicums.
In addition to its base in the southern suburbs of Adelaide, the Faculty runs a range of programs in Adelaide’s city-centre, including Business, Commerce, and Public Sector Management.
The Faculty welcomes students from all over the world, and has partnerships with leading international academic institutions including Nankai University in China.
We seek to excite and inform you through our offerings in teaching, research, and community engagement, and to instil in you a spirit of lifelong learning.
I welcome you to our Faculty, and your participation in it.
