Research at NILS
NILS is a multidisciplinary research centre with strengths in economics, sociology, demography, industrial relations and psychology. We run a Seminar Program throughout each semester at which presentations are made by guest speakers and NILS staff.
Our multidisciplinary base provides us with expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methodologies, including survey design, statistical analysis, econometric modelling, the conduct and interpretation of individual and group interviews, systematic literature reviews and policy analysis.
We have a successful history of conducting both grant-funded and commissioned research for government, industry and the community sector. Researchers at NILS regularly work in collaborative teams with researchers from other institutions. We welcome expressions of interest from researchers interested in conducting collaborative projects with us.
Our core areas of research expertise are in:
- Labour market developments at national, industry, occupational and regional levels
- Industrial relations developments and issues
- Employment, unemployment and labour mobility
- Labour productivity and workplace performance
- Education and training
- Earnings and wage trends
- Work, health and wellbeing
