We offer the following courses:

Bachelor of Social Work and Social Planning

This degree program aims to prepare students with a core body of knowledge in social planning and social work in preparation for a range of career opportunities and in their role as global citizens. It is a professional social work qualification accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers.

Master of Social Work

The course is designed to provide a higher degree coursework master’s award following a Bachelor’s degree with some social science component. The Flinders Master of Social Work is an accredited program which fulfils the professional requirements for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The AASW applies a language requirement for non-resident graduates for whom English is not an official language in their country.

Social Work and Social Planning offers instruction, preparation and support to help students to meet this requirement.

Graduate Certificate in Child Well-being and Protection

The Graduate Certificate in Child Well-being and Protection is an 18-unit program offered by the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences on a fee-paying basis in internal mode. The course is normally completed in one semester full-time or equivalent part-time.

Graduate Certificate in Loss, Grief and Trauma Counselling

The Graduate Certificate has been designed to offer workers such as social workers, social planners, clergy, nurses, teachers and counsellors an opportunity to gain skills and knowledge about helping those experiencing loss, grief and trauma. It provides an opportunity to gain a specific qualification in this area of practice.

This Graduate Certificate is a specialised course for social planners, policy/project workers, community development workers and other professionals who wish to gain the specific skills and knowledge required for a range of social planning roles.

Social Planning is an essential part of the operation of government and non-government organisations in social development and responding to social issues and needs. Social Planning requires the skills, abilities and knowledge to analyse social issues and trends, engage with diverse communities and develop plans for social and human development.

PhD and research master degrees

Research degrees are for those interested in a career in research. A research degree involves the preparation of a thesis under the supervision of one or more supervisors.
