Professor Martin Westwell - History - Public engagement - Research
Martin has been an advisor to a number of small, high-tech companies (see History) and contributed to the innovation community in Oxfordshire through his role in the Oxford Trust (see Public engagement) and organisations such as Diagnox (an organisation which helps support and develop the diagnostic industry in the UK, including start-up incubation).
Other advisory roles include Microsoft's "Visions of Science" exercise through roundtable discussions with Microsoft executives and Bill Gates, and membership of the Academic Advisory board of the Institute of Innovation and Information Productivity, a consortium of multinational companies and organizations aiming to "lead a global effort to better understand the levers of organisGational performance and innovation."
In 2009, Martin served on the steering group which developed the Defence Industry Workforce Action Plan for South Australia.
