The School of Biological Sciences can provide work experience placements to high school students interested in biological research. However, placements within the School are limited and are therefore offered on a competitive basis to South Australian students only.
A successful placement is dependent on the following factors:
1. A strong application
Students must complete the Application Form (DOC 118KB) and submit to one of the following
Email: sco.biology@flinders.edu.au
Fax: 8201 3015
Post:aaScience Communication Officer
Post:aaSchool of Biological Sciences
Post:aaFlinders University
Post:aaGPO Box 2100
Post:aaAdelaide SA 5001
2. Availability of research labs
Even the best applicant cannot be offered a placement if one is not available.
To ensure you have the best possible chance of securing a placement we recommend:
- being flexible in your available weeks and areas of interest, and
- applying as early as possible.
Placements are arranged on a first come, first served basis to suitable applicants.
Applications received less than 2 months before the requested placement dates will not be considered.
3. Contact by the student
We require that any enquiries or arrangements for work experience be made by the student themselves, not a parent/caregiver (emails sent by a student via a home address would be acceptable). This is an important part of work experience. It encourages students to practise their professionalism, organisation, communication, and show responsibility.
