Why Study Science?

The Australian Council of the Deans of Science (ACDS) in their paper titled 'Why do a Science Degree?' identify a number of reasons for studying science:
  • There is not an oversupply of science graduates.
  • Graduates of science courses have much lower unemployment rates than the national average.
  • For the most part graduates are employed using the skills they learned, enjoy their jobs, and have average salaries in the top 10 to 20% of the workforce for their age group.
