Collaborations

The Biomaterials Research Program closely collaborates with Professor Mark Taylor (MDRI, Flinders University) and Professor Bogdan Solomon (Department of Orthopaedic and Trauma, Royal Adelaide Hospital). Our research collaborations are fast growing both nationally and internationally in the areas of implant retrieval studies, computational modelling of fretting and corrosion, and 3D printing of titanium alloy for innovative implants.

Research Focus: My PhD project aims to address the subjective nature and reliability concerns in reference to the existing visual scoring methods for assessing fretting corrosion damage in modular hip joint implants. The outcomes will be assessed through implementation in a retrieval study of hip joint implants that were retrieved at Royal Adelaide Hospital between 1995 and 2015. It also aims to deliver an investigation protocol that details out the wide range of tasks required in conducting retrieval studies.
