New course

Course Coordinators are encouraged to consult with Faculty Office staff early in the development of a proposal for a new course. This will ensure it meets requirements, and fits with the Faculty's overall strategic direction and submission timelines. Please contact Kelly Smith in the Faculty Office to discuss.

Change to an existing course

Approval must also be sought for changes to a course, for example, the introduction of a new major, or the introduction of an Honours year. Depending on the change you will be required to complete a significant or a minor course change form. Guidelines on when to use the appropriate form can be found in the University Approval Process Document

If in doubt please contact Kelly Smith in the Faculty Office and we will advise on the requirements for formal approval of a proposed change to a course and submission timelines.

Creating or amending topics

Approval must be sought for the creation of a new topic or changes to existing topics such as amending: assessment methods, learning outcomes, teaching activity or topic availability. A form will need to be completed seeking approval of the Faculty Courses and Curricula Committee.

Forms used in establishing or changing courses & topics

All course and topic forms can be found in the 'Teaching' section of Forms for use in the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
