Christopher has been working at Flinders for eight years primarily teaching Audiology and Aural Rehabilitation in the Master of Audiology program, the undergraduate Speech Pathology course and more recently the Master of Speech Pathology course. He is currently the course coordinator for the Master of Audiology program.
Christopher is an audiologist and speech pathologist and over the past eleven years has taught in the Speech Pathology program at LaTrobe University and in the Audiology and Speech Pathology programs at the University of Queensland as well as in the Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology at Flinders University. On qualifying in audiology, he worked for ten years at the Victorian Deaf Society’s HEAR (Hearing Education and Aural Rehabilitation) Service, in Melbourne. Christopher’s primary clinical and academic interest is in aural rehabilitation for adults with acquired hearing loss, with particular emphasis on the conversational and social aspects of communication breakdown. Christopher recently completed his PhD studies with the University of Queensland investigating the occurrence of conversation breakdown and repair during spoken interaction involving adults with acquired hearing losses. Recent publications include research into audiovisual speech perception, ageing and social networks, communication therapy and conversation repair. Christopher is also coauthor of the new Adult Aural Rehabilitation manual published by Cochlear Ltd.
