On 13 March 2008, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, the Hon Julia Gillard MP, announced a major review of Australia’s higher education system which will examine and report on the future direction of the higher education sector, its fitness for purpose in meeting the needs of the Australian community and economy and the options for ongoing reform.
As part of the preparation of Flinders' submission and to inform our input into the IRUA document, the Vice-Chancellor held a 'town hall' meeting on 4 July 2008 at which he spoke briefly on some of the matters raised in the discussion paper. This was followed by a brief contribution by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and an open to the floor discussion on the paper.
