On my arrival in January, I invited staff to join me in a conversation about Flinders and I am delighted to report that it has been an informative discussion. Many staff have made constructive suggestions and offered interesting insights into the campus and its culture.
I have been very heartened by this positive response, not least because it confirms a clear affection for the University and a strong commitment to its future. Moreover, I was encouraged by the ability of staff to identify challenges and implicitly signal a willingness to embrace the change required to address them.
These insights have contributed to my own perspective which I have now detailed in a paper – The State of Flinders University. This paper was discussed at the University Council meeting held 1 May 2008 and is now available to staff.
