Accelerate Your Research Program

Aim of the program

The program aims to assist participants to improve as researchers through effective planning, design and implementation of their personal research program and critical reflection on their progress. The program will provide a participatory environment to support working with peers, key individuals and groups across the university.
[Note: The program is not intended to focus on developing research methodology or methods.]

Outcomes

On completion of the program, participants should be able to:

  • discuss the context of research success at Flinders and your own place within it;
  • describe their intended research program including their understanding of the research process, intended clients, aims and measures of success;
  • position their research program in relation to other key academic roles, responsibilities and priorities;
  • identify and draw on sources of support for their research program.

On completion participants also should have an initial written outline of their personal research program and one well developed draft research proposal for funding/support and one draft journal article.

Structure

This program will consist of one full day meeting in March and eight half day sessions from April through to November.  The program will conclude with a graduation ceremony in November.
All participants will be expected to attend all sessions and to participate fully in all aspects of the program.

Who should attend

The program is targeted at academic staff who would like to build their research output and impact by working in a supportive environment with peers.
Applications to participate will be invited in October/November for participation in the 2009 program. Details of the application process will be available at that time.
