Emerging Technologies User Group

A group of interested people are in the process of creating an Emerging Technology User Group (ETUG). This is a new informal group being established to bring together staff who are using, or want to use, the emerging technologies in their professional life. These technologies could include, but not be limited to, technologies such as wikis, blogs, social software (eg Facebook), YouTube, mobile technologies, innovative uses of multimedia, Second Life.

The purpose of the group is to bring staff together to facilitate the sharing of ideas to overcome isolation, develop best practice, provide input to the University re policy and guidelines, and receive information from the University about its future plans.

First meeting: Thursday 10th July 2008

The first meeting of ETUG was held on Thursday 10th July 2008 and was attended by over 70 staff members. Over 40 people indicated wanting to be members of the group but were unable to attend the first meeting.
