Teaching Awards and Grants
There are a variety of awards and
grants available which aim to recognise and promote
teaching excellence and innovation through the University.
The Vice-Chancellor's
Awards for Excellence in Teaching are presented
to teaching teams and individual academic staff and
award winners are offered a prize to be used to further
enhance teaching excellence within the University.
The Teaching
and Learning Innovations Grants Scheme is an institution-wide
internal funding scheme for new developments in teaching
and learning. It calls for formal applications and
allocates funds competitively against specified criteria.
The Diversity
Initiative Grants Scheme is an institution-wide
internal funding scheme for new developments in cultural
diversity and inclusive practice. It calls for formal
applications and allocates funds competitively against
specified criteria.
The National
Awards for Teaching and Learning facilitated by
the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) recognise the work of leading teachers
and inspire others to emulate their efforts. The Awards
represent the world's biggest "prize pool"
for university teaching. The winners of each Teaching
Award will receive a grant of $40,000. Each Institutional
Award winner will receive a grant of $50,000. The
winner of the top teaching honour, the Prime Minister's
Award for University Teacher of the Year, will receive
an additional $35,000.
The Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) also has a range
of Grants Schemes covering three programs:
* Leadership for Excellence in Learning and Teaching
Program
* Priority Projects Program
* Competitive Grants Program
General Staff Awards,
Funding Opportunities and Study Assistance
In addition to the range of courses
available through the Unit, we offer a number of schemes
to encourage general staff to undertake development
opportunities.
- Under the Study Assistance
Scheme general staff can apply for up
to six hours of paid leave to attend lectures.
Staff may also Audit
Topics with the fee being paid for by
Staff Development.
- The Staff Development
& Training Unit Foundations Bursaries
provide funding for two staff to undertake the
University's Foundation Course each year.
- General Staff can use the General
Staff Conference Scheme to apply for funding
assistance to attend a conference or course provided
outside of the university.
- The Arthur Keain
Staff Development Awards aims to enhance the
professional development of members of the Universities
general staff who wish to undertake a development
activity or conference which can be demonstrated
to be beneficial to them in the performance of
their University duties.
- The Study Tours Scheme
provides an opportunity for general staff to obtain
funding for a study tour relating to their professional
duties.
