Foundations Colloquium 2006

Griffith University, Southbank Campus, Brisbane
Mon 23rd Oct – Tues 24th Oct 2006

Griffith University, in conjunction with the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology, hosted the 2006 Foundations Colloquium.

The colloquium continued the informal, discussion-based format of previous years.

Colloqiuim 2006 intro and ethos

It could be said that the colloquium is now approaching an important point in its development. No longer in an orientation phase, the colloquia must now look to the future, in a context in which the higher education landscape has changed quite markedly.  Our hope is that the 2006 meeting will provide an opportunity for members to discuss our ongoing work together creatively and imaginatively, and to consider the future potential of the colloquium community, including the work we will do together in realising the Foundations Carrick proposal “Preparing university teachers: A model for national collaboration’.

We hope that by participating in the colloquium we will gain a sense of the range of values, beliefs, theoretical frames, structures, models and learning outcomes that we espouse in our teaching and programs. It may lead us to affirm as well as to challenge or rethink our teaching and learning programs. At the very least, it will give us a sense of how others approach teaching and curriculum design in our field.  We hope that as a result of the colloquium, we will go back to our institutions with ideas, inspiration and energy, and a feel for what is similar and different about our practice.
