The aim of the Fellowship Scheme is to advance learning and teaching in higher education by supporting leading educators to undertake strategic, high profile fellowship activities in areas of importance to the sector. Through their fellowship activities, Fellows have a positive and lasting influence and impact on higher education practice in Australia.
Flinders University congratulates the following people who were awarded a prestigious OLT Fellowship in 2014 :
Professor Dennis McDermott (Poche Chair) was awarded an OLT Senior Teaching Fellowship for his proposal entitled ‘Having the hard conversations: Strengthening pedagogical effectiveness by working with student and institutional resistance to Indigenous health curriculum’
Professor Joe Shapter (School of Chemical and Physical Sciences) received an OLT Teaching Fellowship for his proposal titled ‘Developing tailored study plans for the new higher education environment’
How to Nominate
- Consider which Fellowship best suits your intentions and experience, and register your interest with the Project Officer: Teaching Awards and Grants in the Centre for University Teaching via email: firstname.lastname@example.org. The Centre is responsible for providing support and advice to all staff applying for OLT Fellowships and upon registration will instigate the nomination process.
- You will then be asked to complete either a 2015 National Senior Teaching Fellowships nomination form or a 2015 National Teaching Fellowships nomination form. The form requires contact details, budget outline, and an abstract of the proposed fellowship (max. 160 words). The abstract must clearly state what will be delivered by the fellowship, i.e. output/s. The completed nomination must be signed by both the head of faculty or organisational unit. Endorsement by the DVC(A) will be coordinated by the Project Officer: Teaching Awards and Grants.
- The Project Officer: Teaching Awards and Grants will arrange a meeting to discuss the nomination and go through the requirements of the application. You will be asked to draft the required documents.
