What is it?

A learning module is a set of HTML pages presented in a hierarchical order, although if students wish they can access the pages in any order.

Strengths

  • Built in navigation is standard for all Learning Modules.

    Limitations

    • Structure is limited.
    • Navigation is not completely intuitive.
    • Content is delivered online ONLY.
    • People read off the screen in different ways to reading on paper.

    Tips for use

    • Only use about 2 screens worth of writing per page.
    • If delivering content/reading material, encourage the use of reflective learning strategies by making use of the Notes tool, if using FLO.
    • Link the pages to the discussion tool as appropriate
    • If using FLO, give students access to Create Printable View to allow students to print.
    • Goals and self tests within the path can be useful ways to direct student learning to what is important, and can give them brief feedback as to how they are going in attaining the learning outcomes.
