Topic description
Audiology 3 uses PBL cases to further develop students' knowledge and skills in diagnosing and managing clients with complex auditory disorders or clients in special populations with auditory disorders. Focus is on the development of clinical theory and method in adult hearing aid fitting and diagnostic audiology.
Educational aims

The aims of the topic are

  • To further develop of the student's knowledge and skills in diagnosing and managing clients with complex auditory disorders or clients in special populations with auditory disorders as primary or co-morbid conditions.

  • To introduce students to aspects of health services and their management with a view to enhancing their awareness of management issues prior to their first clinical block placement later in the semester. This will provide a wider context for learning on the placement.

Expected learning outcomes
Students will demonstrate knowledge in a range of more advanced and specialised areas of audiological practice as introduced in the problem-based learning cases and associated sessions in this semester.
