Course context
This topic takes place partly on campus and partly in the workplace.

Class contact involves the preparation, final debrief and assessment.
Topic description
Students undertake an enterprise or innovation project. Students will be guided by experienced individuals who have either built successful companies or fund them. This opportunity is available to students when appropriate projects are identified and where student knowledge and ability matches the needs of the project.
Educational aims
This topic aims to broaden a student's knowledge and skills through an applied business project; to help students take an idea and find a viable business model which is scalable and repeatable, from scratch.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students should be able to:
  • apply business knowledge to applied business settings
  • assess new business propositions
  • conduct research on a business issue in depth and develop plans
  • use the skills necessary to develop a business model
  • write a professional business report
  • make effective presentations to financiers or Boards to secure resources and/or support for projects
  • write a professional business report
  • develop more effective skills working in a team and manage team dynamics in a professional manner
