Topic description
This topic aims to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills required to strategically align recruitment and selection practises with organisational priorities. Students will be equipped with skills and knowledge to differentiate between different approaches and then to select those that best meet with organisational needs - covering large organisations to SMEs. Part of the course work will require a critical analysis of the recruitment and selection strategies used in an Organisation and to design an intervention that improves outcomes.
Educational aims
This topic develops the skills and knowledge required to equip students to understand the options available to practitioners in designing an evidence-based selection and recruitment solution. Students learn to evaluate different methods and to determine the best methods that are fit-for-purpose taking into account the scale of the Organisation, the number of appointments and the scale of the recruitment campaign required.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected be able to

  1. Identify the alignment between an Organisation's strategic objectives and recruitment strategy

  2. Identify options for different recruitment campaigns

  3. Identify methods and psychometric properties of different selection methods

  4. Identify strengths and weaknesses of different selection methods

  5. Critically evaluate recruitment and selection methods used in Organisations

  6. Design an intervention to improve recruitment and selection within an Organisation
