Topic description
This topic requires students to participate in a major dance production. This includes the creation, development and rehearsal of works under the direction of industry choreographers. The process will involve the transference of the work from a rehearsal room to a staging and performance context.
Educational aims
This topic aims to provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Assist in the development of original material for a dance work
  • Use rehearsal techniques and practice to develop a performance
  • Work effectively as part of an ensemble
  • Apply correction and dance techniques to deliver the requirements of live performance
  • Experience performing in front of a live audience
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to demonstrate:

  • Research skills in developing content under instruction
  • the ability to work collaboratively in rehearsal
  • a continued development of their knowledge of rehearsal techniques and practices
  • an expansion of their ability to work within an ensemble context
  • Effective time management when not working directly with the choreographer through all stages in the realisation of the work
