Building on the skills acquired in previous Performance Techniques topics, students continue developing range and skills as performers but now focus on preparing material for auditioning in the industry, for presenting self in a range of ways and forms to the industry.

This topic aims to:

refine the skills necessary for the students' eventual employment as actors and directors in the theatre, television, and film industries
encourage all students to work as both interpretive and conceptual artists
provide the survival skills necessary for work in a highly competitive industry
further develop the conceptual understanding required by directors and actors working within live performance, television, and film

On completion of this topic acting students will be able to:

demonstrate the improvisation, acting and interpretive skills required by professional actors
use body awareness, strength, flexibility, alignment and coordination as professional actors would
demonstrate the vocal techniques necessary in live and electronic performance as professional actors can

Directing students will be able to:

demonstrate an intermediate understanding of the process of presenting a play from selection through to production
be able to diagnose what is happening on stage and suggest solutions at an advanced level
design a performance at an advanced level
analyse texts and perform research to further the work in and on a performance at an advanced level
select or write material, storyboard it and shoot a short film with an advanced level understanding of process and skill (optional)
