Topic description
This topic provides strategies for resolving ethical issues, making ethical decisions, writing policy, relating to clients and managing organisations within disability or rehabilitation frameworks.
Educational aims
This topic will provide students with the opportunity to explore and learn about:

  • Current theory and techniques relating to critical thinking and ethical analysis.

  • Fundamental legal constraints associated with working in a human service organisation.

  • Approaches to applying critical thinking techniques and analysis strategies to their professional practice and/or practicum experiences within disability, allied health or rehabilitation service organisations.

Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students must demonstrate their capacity for:

  1. Researching and developing oral presentations addressing the identification and resolution of ethical issues identified through practicum and/or professional experience
  2. Using critical thinking and ethical analysis techniques presented in this topic, to prepare a written report relating to an issue identified through practicum and/or professional experience
  3. Using critical and reflective thinking processes to realistically evaluate their own professional performance.
