Topic description
This topic examines current perspectives in early intervention including child and family-centred planning, processes of identification, models of home-based, centre and school support services, parenting, transition, well-being and professional partnerships.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • introduce current theory and research on principles and practices in early intervention

  • support the application of research-based knowledge and skills in context
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • identify and analyse models of early intervention and support services

  • analyse factors that support or inhibit identification processes, access to early intervention and effectiveness of early intervention services

  • design a child and/or family centred individual support program using multiple data sources
