Topic description
This topic discusses: Polymers for use in the body. Biomedical composites: constituents; physical properties. Problems; fracture; fatigue failure, wear. Biocompatibility. Applications of biomaterials. Artificial components in the body.
Educational aims
This topic introduces students to the use of biomaterials to replace and augment naturally occurring tissues within the human body.
