Introductory to intermediate French language
Topic description
In this first semester topic, students will consider issues relating to French history, culture and society as illustrated in a selection of authentic written, aural and/or visual texts.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- introduce students to past and contemporary cultural and societal issues
- introduce students to basic textual analysis
- enhance communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction
- expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development
Expected learning outcomes
On completing this topic, students will be able to:
- communicate in speech and writing on a range of topics related to French history, culture and society
- read, discuss and critique a variety of authentic texts
