Topic description
This topic is designed to consolidate and strengthen the students' proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Classes will cover advanced features of the French language, particularly syntax and stylistics, appropriate with this level.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • consolidate and expand students' knowledge of advanced French grammar, particularly syntax, styles and registers

  • further enhance students' communicative competence and collaborative learning skills, through participation in activities involving exposure to a variety of authentic materials and group or pair interaction
Expected learning outcomes
On completing this topic, students will be able to:

  • interpret extended speech in French following somewhat complex lines of argument
  • participate in conversations in French, with fluency and spontaneity
  • read, interpret, paraphrase and summarise articles, reports and argumentative spoken and written texts concerned with historical and contemporary issues
  • produce texts in French that contain clear descriptions on a range of subjects
