Topic description
This topic continues to improve students' ability in French language through the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, and to contemporary French society beyond what has already been acquired in previous topics. The emphasis is placed on oral-aural comprehension, as well as on understanding and use of both spoken and written French.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • review and expand French grammatical structures and vocabulary acquired at previous levels

  • enhance communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction

  • expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development
Expected learning outcomes
On completing this topic, students will be able to:

  • identify the main points of clear standard speech and communicate in speech and writing on a range of familiar topics using simple language

  • recognise and use grammatical, syntactical, lexical and phonetic structures acquired throughout the semester
