Topic description
This topic continues to improve students' ability in French language through the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, and to contemporary French society beyond what has already been acquired in previous topics. The emphasis is placed on oral-aural comprehension, as well as consolidating students' understanding and use of both spoken and written French.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • consolidate and expand students' knowledge of French grammatical structures and vocabulary acquired at previous levels

  • develop further students' communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction
Expected learning outcomes
On completing this topic, students will be able to:

  • communicate in speech and writing on a range of familiar topics using grammatical, syntactical and phonetic structures acquired throughout the semester

  • read and discuss authentic written and oral texts of moderate difficulty
