Topic description

In this topic, students will consider issues relating to French history, culture and society as illustrated in a selection of authentic written, aural and/or visual texts.

Educational aims

This topic aims to:

  • Introduce students to past and contemporary cultural and societal issues
  • Introduce students to basic textual analysis
  • Enhance communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction
  • Expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic you will be expected to be able to:

  1. Communicate in speech and writing on a range of topics related to French history, culture and society
  2. Read, discuss and critique a variety of authentic texts
