Topic description
This topic allows students to pattern make and create garments for their graduate range.

Students will be patternmaking, sampling, testing fabrics, experimenting with silhouette through draping, undertaking experimental fabric manipulation or finishing techniques and completing a selection of outfits from the design project undertaken in Advanced Patternmaking and Garment Construction 3 for their graduate range.
Educational aims
This topic aims to give students the opportunity to:

  • demonstrate advanced skills and techniques in design, development, patternmaking and construction.

  • show critical analysis of their own work and problem solving abilities.

  • complete a range of garments to a graduate and industry standard meeting required timelines.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of the topic students will be able to:

  • independently develop fashion ranges to industry, client or self-employment requirements.

  • communicate their skills and techniques through production of a range of garments and its presentation both through producing development documentation, and through exhibition

  • work to industry level timelines and standards
