Topic description
This topic addresses the situation and needs of rural health and aged care providers using action learning theory and the practice of project management. Working with an academic supervisor and an industry mentor, students will identify a project that addresses a current problem or opportunity for the organisation, prepare a project proposal for approval, conduct the project, prepare a report and present the findings to an academic or industry forum.
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is consolidate students' skills and knowledge in project management and in the challenges confronting rural health and aged care services.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students should be able to:

  • design and conduct projects to implement change and innovation in the management and delivery of health care, with a particular focus on the challenges of rural health care delivery.

  • write reports to meet the needs of decision-makers.

  • apply management theories and methods to practical problems.
