Course context
Masters candidates are obliged to take at least 9 units of Management Project (in one of its configurations) to fulfil the research/project component of their award. With the approval of the Course Coordinator, candidates may undertake HACM9302 Management Project (18 units).
Topic description
The project will address an aspect of health or aged care management of interest to the student. The syllabus will depend on the nature of the project. The student must approach the Topic Coordinator with a proposal for an area of skills development and study. Supervision will be decided upon after this meeting.

Students undertaking 18 units of Management Project over 1 semester enrol in HACM 9302. Students undertaking the 18 units over 4 semesters, enrol in HACM9302A, HACM9302B, HACM9302C and HACM9302D. These are assessed as a continuum.
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is to enable students to undertake a project in an aspect of health or aged care management of personal interest, in which they can apply and extend the knowledge they have gained through their management studies.
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic, students should be able to:

  • undertake independent investigation and reporting of management problems or opportunities in the workplace

  • design and write reports of a high standard to meet the needs of decision-makers

  • demonstrate ability to prepare papers for publication

  • apply management theories and methods to practical problems and choose appropriate methods for addressing management tasks.
