Topic description
This topic provides an introduction to the conceptual framework of symbiotic clinical education. This framework aims to develop conceptual, dispositional and procedural knowledge for effective health professional educator practice. This topic is structured around the principles of symbiosis - which are that clinical education is most effective when there is a mutual benefit to all stakeholders involved. Students will explore through dialogue and debate the fours axis of the symbiotic clinical education model and develop an appreciation for the importance of relationships and the interconnectedness of all stakeholders in health professional education.

These stakeholders include students, patients, clinicians, professions, health services, educational providers, government and the community. This topic will explore the theoretical constructs that underpin aspects of clinical education and invite students to explore examples from their own experiences and understandings. This topic is a core component of the graduate certificate. This fully on-line topic is available externally.
