Topic description
This topic will consolidate advanced language skills through integrating general Indonesian studies with language study. Materials are taken from a range of authentic sources including audio-visual, on-line and newspapers to extend comprehension and expression abilities. In addition to the weekly language class, students are expected to carry out independent study, which will be submitted for assessment.

This topic aims to consolidate advanced level skills through integrating language study with broader Indonesian studies
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • analyse critically, and discuss a range of Indonesian discourse taken from text and multi-media sources

  • develop informed opinions and attitudes, and convey those with increased depth and accuracy

  • acquire the language and wider academic skills and confidence required for higher levels of discussion and debate, including asking and answering questions in Indonesian from the floor

  • increase their understanding of Indonesian society and culture, through expanding vocabulary, awareness of context and socio-linguistics.
