Topic description
In this topic students will continue to build on their knowledge and skills in Italian. Emphasis is placed on oral-aural comprehension, as well as on understanding and use of both spoken and written Italian.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • consolidate and expand the knowledge of phonetics, speech patterns, grammatical structures and idioms acquired previously

  • develop further students' communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction
Expected learning outcomes
On completing this topic students will be able to:

  • use knowledge and skills in Italian phonetics, speech patterns, grammatical structures and idioms developed throughout the semester to communicate orally and in written form on a range of everyday topics using moderately complex language

  • read and discuss authentic written and oral texts of moderate difficulty

  • demonstrate skills in peer interaction and improvisation
