Mathematical skills such as acquired in the first three years of a mathematics degree.
Topic description
This topic enables an honours or masters student to undertake either (a) an approved advanced level topic at another institution, (b) a topic presented by a visiting academic, or (c) a course of advanced reading and investigation in a specialist area.
Educational aims
This topic aims to provide opportunities for the student to gain greater knowledge in a specific area of Mathematics not normally available at Flinders University.
Expected learning outcomes
At the completion of the topic, students are expected to be able to:
- Have in-depth knowledge in several advanced areas of the discipline
- Plan, carry out, and report on a research project
- Have experience in presenting research seminars and written reports
