Topic description
This topic allows students to further extend their knowledge and understanding of various Greek or Cypriot cultural and historical themes relating to Greece, Cyprus or the Greek Diaspora. Themes examined are: Greek migration to Australia; Asia Minor; history of Cyprus; literature.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:
- further consolidate students' knowledge on selective areas of Greek history, culture and society
- encourage students to develop critical skills through cross-cultural and cross-linguistic approaches
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:
- recognise, understand, compare and contrast aspects of selective areas of Modern Greek history, culture and society
- identify and organise research material and produce academic texts
- present, discuss and debate contemporary issues studied in class
