Topic description
This topic is designed to strengthen and extend the students' proficiency in the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Classes will cover advanced features of the Modern Greek language, particularly syntax and stylistics, appropriate with this level.
Educational aims
This topic aims to:

  • consolidate and expand students' knowledge of advanced Modern Greek grammar, particularly syntax, styles and registers

  • enhance learners' communicative competence and collaborative learning skills, through participation in activities involving exposure to a variety of authentic materials and group or pair interaction

  • develop students independent and collaborative learning and language learning skill development
Expected learning outcomes
On completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • interpret extended speech in Modern Greek following complex lines of argument

  • participate in conversations, with fluency and spontaneity

  • read, interpret, paraphrase and summarise articles, reports and argumentative texts concerned with contemporary issues

  • produce texts that contain clear descriptions on a range of subjects related to one's field of interest
