Elementary to intermediate Modern Greek language

In this topic emphasis is placed on oral-aural comprehension, as well as on understanding and use of both spoken and written Modern Greek

This topic aims to:

review and expand Modern Greek grammatical structures and vocabulary acquired previously
recognise, reproduce and describe grammatical, syntactic, lexical and phonetic patterns
produce various complex text types in Modern Greek
select, distinguish and understand various genres of text in Modern Greek, and particularly Modern Greek literature
enhance communicative competence through participation in activities involving group or pair interaction
expose students to independent and collaborative learning and to language learning skill development

On completing this topic students will be able to:

identify the main points of clear standard speech and communicate in speech and writing on a range of familiar topics using simple language
analyse and understand different text types and to produce complex written and spoken texts
develop both aural and oral skills through a variety of activities
recognise and use grammatical, syntactical, lexical and phonetic structures acquired throughout the semester
