Topic description
On the basis of a research proposal outlined in MHSC9026, and a comprehensive and in depth examination of the literature carried out in MHSC9033A, a student will be required to design, implement and evaluate a research project. The research project will be produced in the form of a journal article suitable for publication. Students must enrol in and complete this topic and MHSC9033A in two consecutive semesters as both topics are taught as a continuum.
Educational aims
The topic aims to provide students with the knowledge and preparedeness to complete a research report for publication in a selected journal. The topic covers several areas: identification of propsepctive journals, scientific-writing, data analysis and reporting processes.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of the topic students should be able to:

  1. Undertake research related to mental health, focused psychological therapies or areas of clinical significance in health and social settings

  2. Articulate and present research methodologies and ideas to academic representatives

  3. Critique and contribute to scholarly research in an informed manner

  4. Demonstrate capacity to construct, design and evaluate projects through collaborative engagement with research supervision.
