Topic description
This topic introduces students to university study, and assists them to develop the necessary skills to succeed in the Bachelor of Midwifery program.
Educational aims
This aim of this topic is to assist students to develop the knowledge, academic skills and attitudes necessary to succeed in the Bachelor of Midwifery program.
Expected learning outcomes
At the completion of this topic, students are expected to be able to:
- Demonstrate a beginning understanding of the knowledge, attitudes and skills required to be a successful midwifery student
- Demonstrate an understanding of the process of reflective practice
- Demonstrate beginning level skills for interpersonal communication and be able to apply theory and skills of communication to midwifery woman centered care
- Demonstrate a beginning understanding of the relationship between research, theory and midwifery evidence based practice
- Compare the various research methodologies which can be used to contribute to the midwifery body of knowledge
