Topic description
This topic is designed for the student to undertake the research component of their Bachelor of Midwifery (Hons).
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is for the student to demonstrate their understanding of research and have the skills necessary to conduct a study in an area of their interest.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:
- pose and refine a worthwhile research question
- perform a literature search and manage the literature that is collected
- critically review the literature
- develop a research proposal
- prepare an ethics application addressing all considerations in the research process if relevant
- select a research method that will answer their research question
- collect and analyse data, present the findings and defend the conclusions/recommendations of the research
- construct a thesis.
