Topic description
In this topic students will develop knowledge and skills for application in a range of primary health care nursing environments. They will also have the opportunity to observe primary health care nursing practice in a clinical venue.
Educational aims
The aims for this topic are for students to develop their knowledge and skills for application in a range of primary health care nursing environments.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • apply a number of major concepts and theories to primary health care nursing practice

  • conduct a focused health assessment

  • determine and implement evidence based primary health care nursing interventions

  • identify what constitutes effective multi-disciplinary team-work and management of clients in primary health care settings

  • articulate the way in which the nursing practices in their country of origin compare to those in an Australian primary health care nursing setting
