Assignments

In this topic, students will develop specialised knowledge in critical care nursing theory and its application to critical care practice.

The topic aims to develop student understanding of advanced critical care specialist theory and its application to the management of the complex, critically ill patient.

On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:

• analyse concepts and definitions of complex critical illness

• explain the specialised knowledge required to conduct a focused physical assessment of the complex critically ill patient

• analyse evidence to determine clinical interventions to achieve quality and safety in patient outcomes

• identify clinical patterns occurring in complex critically ill patient and draw inferences from these to inform practice

• articulate their role and responsibilities as a member of an inter-professional team.
