Topic description
In this topic students will develop clinical competency at a beginning level in the specialist area of child and family health nursing in the community setting. They will also explore contemporary constructs for professional role development in this specialist role.
Educational aims
This topic aims to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to practice at a beginning level in the specialist area of child and family health nursing in the community setting.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:

  • Reflect on and critique their own practice for professional role development in child and family health nursing

  • Demonstrate competency in a range of child health assessments

  • Demonstrate competency against designated standards of clinical practice.
