Topic description
In this topic students are introduced to epidemiological concepts, their use and application to nursing practice. The health of populations will be examined, including the influence of political, environmental, geographic and economic factors.
Educational aims
The aim of this topic is for students to develop and in-depth knowledge of population health and epidemiological concepts and an ability to apply them to their professional practice.
Expected learning outcomes
On successful completion of this topic students will be able to:
- justify the value of epidemiological studies to population health
- understand, evaluate and justify the key epidemiological concepts
- apply specialised population health knowledge and principles to their nursing practice.
